Iron Man 2

The new trailer is out. This movie looks incredible. The original is one of my favorite movies and arguably the best comic book adaptation I've seen. War Machine, Black Widow, Whiplash, Nick Fury, Justin Hammer and the Extremis armor are all being added to the story. I'm very excited to say the least.

Well, as you know I am hardly the biggest "Iron Man" fan, but I'm still looking forward this sequel as the first film was no doubt one of the most fun Marvel adaptations to watch.

My main annoyance is that it's taken Marvel so long to release another movie! I seem to remember hearing something about them making too much money and having to slow down the production of their films or something? I really just want them to get around to making The Avengers.

Robert Downey Jr. fits the Stark's role perfectly and I think that's responsible for much of the success of the first movie. I think it's about time Marvel started getting some recognition for its blockbusters as it seems the industry far prefers giving awards to other comic book franchises. Maybe Marvel's just not "gritty" enough.

Really I just think it's fantastic that we get a chance to watch these characters that we grew up with "come to life" on the big screen. For me, it's impossible to not get excited when I see Iron Man soaring through the sky, or the Incredible Hulk rampaging through the streets of a city.

Despite what people say about everything having too much CGI these days, I think most of the recent Marvel movies have come out looking incredible and I like it.

Plus, Iron Man 2 has the Black Widow!

I can see that as being a strong possibility. There's another rumor I'm very inclined to believe as well. Marvel supposedly made some mistakes early on in their desire to make movies. They used any production company willing to make a movie and had different types of contracts with all of them. Multi-picture deals, first right to using certain characters in the future and things like that. Once they started making money they wanted control back. So they had to meet all of their obligations, buy out contracts and whatever else to regain control of their creative properties. Lending credibility to the rumor is the fact that Marvel already has somewhere around 10 movies confirmed for release within the next 3 years and at least 6 more in the development stage that could see release dates within that same 3 year time frame.

But I have gotten used to Stark over these past couple years. Probably because of Marvel's total non-stop Stark propaganda.
