This information hasn’t stopped some creatures, namely the coconut crab, from growing larger than I consider reasonable for any creature [...]

NASA has revealed that a celestial object that went careening past our planet earlier last week was “probably” an asteroid, doing little to allay the fears of those determined to believe that it was actually an intergalactic junker, or maybe even a space whale.
Dubbed “2010 AL30″ in what is an obvious attempt to render it [...]

Experts have dismissed a mysterious “halo-shaped” cloud that appeared above Moscow last week, claiming that the phenomena was caused by cold air from the Arctic combining with a number of other air fronts that have passed above Russia recently.
That rather mundane explanation hasn’t stopped the internet exploding with conspiracy theories from people that think [...]

I awoke this morning to a dire warning from the JPL’s Near-Earth Objects Program: “Fireballs occur everyday,” it said. “But they are not always seen.”
Taken out of context that quote could be terrifying; in context, it’s not much better. According to a FAQ provided by the American Meteor Society several thousand so-called “fireballs” shoot through [...]

A Melbourne geologist has warned that Australia may be considered “overdue” for a volcanic eruption and that emergency response plans should be put in place early in order to minimise the risks.
In an interview with ABC’s The World Today, Associate Professor Bernie Joyce explained that Australia is home to a number of relatively young volcanoes. [...]
